Micro Needling Can …
Micro-needling, also known as “Collagen Induction Therapy” is a minimally invasive treatment to rejuvenate the skin. Treatments can be used on nearly all parts of the body with the most frequent areas being on the face, neck, décolleté, arms, legs, thighs, abdomen and hands.
A device with fine needles creates tiny holes in the top layer of the skin. The process stimulates your skin’s natural ability to heal itself and in the process produces magic, called collagen and elastin. While it may sound a bit uncomfortable, a topical anaesthetic will be used to keep you comfortable during the treatment.
Treatments can vary from 30 – 90 minutes depending on the size of the area and type of skin being treated. As an example, a face treatment typically takes 30 – 45 minutes. Larger areas like the décolletage, abdomen and legs can take between 45 – 90 minutes.
Some clients only require a single treatment once a year to achieve optimal results. However, it is recommended for most clients to receive a series of 2 -3 treatments spaced about 4-6 weeks apart. For patients with deep wrinkles, stretch marks, acne scars or hair loss, it is recommended to receive 6 -8 sessions.
Recovery after a Microneedling treatment is relatively short, with most redness and discomfort subsiding within 24 hours. Of course every client is different, and those with sensitive skin may take a few days longer.
If you have had a deep treatment, you may experience some redness and localised swelling. The sensation will be similar to sunburn for a few days. If you have had a shallow treatment, you may only experience a slight pinkish appearance.
